Try the 10 by 10 by 3 Method

August 21, 2026

The number one reason experts never write their book is not a lack of knowledge. It is not knowing where to start. You have decades of expertise in your head, but staring at a blank page, it all feels like too much to organize. So the book stays an idea for another year. And another.

Here is a simple framework that turns that overwhelm into an outline in an afternoon. We call it the 10 by 10 by 3 method, and it works even if you feel like you do not have much content yet.

Step One: Your 10 Most Frequently Asked Questions

Think of the ten questions you get asked all the time. The ones that come up on sales calls, in DMs, at networking events, even at a dinner party when someone asks what you do for a living. What do you do? How do you do it? Who do you do it for?

These are questions you can answer in your sleep, which is exactly the point. They are probably already sitting on your website. Write them down. That is the first half of your book.

Step Two: 10 Questions They Should Be Asking

Now think about the ten questions people should ask you if they knew what you knew. This is where your real expertise lives.

Picture a realtor. A client might ask, where is the best place to live in this city? But the question they should ask is, which neighborhoods have the best resale value or the strongest school districts? The expert knows the better question. When you answer the questions people do not even know to ask, you instantly separate yourself from everyone else in your field.

Step Three: 3 Stories for Every Answer

This is the step most people skip, and it is the one that makes your book unforgettable. For each answer, do not just give the nuts and bolts. Add one to three short stories.

It could be a client you helped, an experience you lived through, or even a well-known figure your reader would recognize. Some of the best business books lean heavily on stories about famous people precisely because they are relatable and memorable. Stories are what turn information into something people actually remember and repeat.

Now You Have a Book

Add it up. Ten frequently asked questions plus ten should-ask questions gives you twenty answers, and you can even combine some. That is at least a ten-chapter book, built entirely from things you already know.

One rule while you draft: do not edit as you write. Editing while creating is what kills momentum. Get it all out first, then refine later.

And if writing it out feels hard, do not write at all. Talk it out. Use a transcription tool, or have a friend interview you with these questions like a real conversation. Answer out loud, let the tool capture it, and you will have raw material for your entire book without ever facing a blank page.

And when you are ready to publish and market it the right way, Elite Online Publishing is here to help you become a recognized authority.

You do not need more experience to start. You already have the book in you. You just need a way to get it out.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I really do not have any content yet?
That is exactly what this method is for. Your answers to everyday questions are your content. You have been creating it verbally for years without realizing it.

Do I have to write everything myself?
No. Many experts talk their book out loud using a transcription tool or a friend acting as interviewer. Speaking is often faster and sounds more like you than typing does.

How long should each answer be?
Long enough to fully answer the question and include a story or two. Do not overthink length while drafting. Focus on getting the ideas and stories down, then tighten in editing.

Will twenty questions really make a full book?
Yes. Twenty solid answers, each with supporting stories, typically become a ten-chapter book. Combine or expand as needed, and you have a complete manuscript foundation.
