Why Every Influencer Needs a Book

April 15, 2020

As an influencer you may think your success stems on the content you publish on social media, but you can see even more success with a book — and here’s why!

Influencers Have Enough Content for Multiple Books!

Defining “Influencer”

Let’s begin by defining what an “influencer” is. Your first thought may be models on social media with millions of followers, but the truth is anyone can be an influencer. According to Influencer MarketingHub, and Influencer is someone who has:

  • the power to affect the purchasing decisions of others because of his or her authority, knowledge, position, or relationship with his or her audience.
  • a following in a distinct niche, with whom he or she actively engages. The size of the following depends on the size of his/her topic of the niche.

It is important to note that these individuals are not merely marketing tools, but rather social relationship assets with which brands can collaborate to achieve their marketing objectives.

With that in mind, you may see yourself as an influencer or on the road to becoming one. If you speak on subjects, influence those to buy your service or product, you already possess this title. And now it’s time to build upon it!

What A Book Will Do

Several famous YouTubers and other influencers have publishing books, including Shane Dawson, Jazz Jennings, and Miranda Sings. Not only were these books a way of giving back to their fans and followers, but it was a marketing tool for promoting their channels, products, and more! Someone picking up Shane Dawson’s “I Hate Myselfie” may not even know who Shane is, but after reading the book, they’ll be led to their channel, makeup line, and merch store. They will follow them on all social media platforms and thus a new follower is born.

If you offer services, whether sponsored or your own, a book will give you the platform to set yourself apart as an expert in regards to these services and give you the authority to promote them both within your book and outside of it.

Repurposing Content and Writing A Book

You might be thinking you don’t have the time nor the ability to write a book. That’s not true! Think of the hours and hours of content you have available via Instagram posts, live streams, and more. You have more than enough content for a book – perhaps even two or three! If you’re not sure how to repurpose this content, you might consider hiring a ghostwriter to help you with the process. Create an outline, provide content, and let the ghostwriter create a manuscript perfect for you while maintaining your voice and purpose.
